Kashmi, Beast Men

The Kashmi were created from humans in a twisted experiment by the Sorcerer-Kings. They spent many years as slaves to that empire, and helped in its downfall. The Kashmi moved to the northern forests of Eridor, however members of the Snake Tribe can still be found in the Great Meridar Desert. These Snake tribe Kashmi do not speak Kashmeri, instead they know Rhylt, and are known as the Rhyltani Nomads.

Physical Description
Kashmi vary wildly in appearance, each expressing aspects of their animal heritage. Commonalities are a fine fur or scales covering their bodies, and mild fangs. Lion Tribe Kashmi are known to be muscular humanoids, with wild manes, and cat-like eyes. They stand about 6 feet tall, and weigh about 180 lbs. Wolf Tribe Kashmi are smaller, at about 5’ 6" tall, and weigh around 150 lbs, they are known for black hair with grey streaks. Bear Tribe Kashmi are tall, imposing humanoids, standing between 6’ and 6’ 6", with wide, stocky bodies, usually weighing 250 lbs or more. Snake Tribe Kashmi are hairless, extremely tall humanoids covered with fine scales, having flat noses and lidless eyes. They possess long fingered hands. Members of the Snake Tribe stand around 7 feet, and weigh around 200 lbs. Eagle Tribe Kashmi appear the most human, with notably spiky hair, and piercing gazes. Fox Tribe Kashmi have lupine features, with red hair.

Most Kashmi live in tribal villages, sometimes numbering two or three hundred. The primary exceptions to this are the Fox Tribe and the Snake Tribe. Members of the Fox Tribe live in a small city, hidden deep within the forest. Snake Tribe Kashmi travel in small nomad bands, generally in warmer regions.

Kashmi as a whole have good relations with the other races and culture, but, depending on the culture, are viewed either as a sort of mystical creature, or as an abomination (Drohenians and the Kalani are especially prone to this view.) The Orferi respect most Kashmi, and more than a few half-elves can trace their lineage to a Kashmi-Orferi parents.

Alignment and Religion
Most Kashmi are neutral. They tend to worship the natural world, but some have taken to worshiping the Eldari. The Rhyltani Nomads worship Orion and Solis as Gods of the Desert, seeing Orion as the Taker, and Solis as the Giver. Most Kashmi spiritual leaders are Druids.

Kashmi are often curious about the world, and adventure for many reasons.
